Jill Scifres, 48, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 1741 Edgemont Dr., with Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be this evening, Tuesday, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Jill was born on December 28, 1966 in Abilene, TX to Henry and Sandra Mercer Barentine. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 15 years as an internal auditor and prior to that, she was a pharmacy tech for 12 years. In 2013, Jill took an early retirement from Blue Cross Blue Shield to help her husband open up The Flour Shop Bakery. Jill was a loving mom and grandma and also loved her dog and cats. She enjoyed traveling by cruise ship and had taken over 17 cruises in her lifetime. She loved to eat at new restaurants, but no restaurant was better than eating her husband's cooking. Jill loved to sing and was a great artist. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her father, Henry Barentine; grandfather, Frank Mercer; and her father-in-law, Jessie B. Scifres. Survivors include her husband, Leray Scifres; mother, Sandra Barentine; and sons, Ryan and Brandon Scifres all of Abilene; her daughter, Kimberly Lord and husband, Brad of Katy, TX; sisters, Pam Lantrip of Abilene, Amanda Cook and husband, Dave of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Deborah Whitehead of Tuscola; grandmother, Laverne Mercer of Silverton, TX; grandchildren, Jessie Lord, Zoey Scifres, Katherine Lord, Brooke Scifres, and a grandchild on the way, Jennifer Lord. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Cleta Faye Scifres; and sister-in-law, Donna Scifres Solomon both of Abilene; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
